being Afro never went out of style

It never did and never will.

Dear Afro Hipster

I had the honour of visiting your website a few weeks back and I love that you promote all things chic and African.

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the Kayobi Clothing and Art Collection, which I believe your readers would love.

About Kayobi
Kayobi - pronounced (K – OW – B) is an apparel, art and accessories company created to tell the African story and that of the Diaspora through positive, vibrant and thought provoking imagery.

The word ‘Kayobi’ translates from Japanese as ‘Tuesday’, this is in reference to my name Kwabena Oppong Boateng. Kwabena is the Twi name given to a child born on a Tuesday in the Akan Tribes of Ghana (West Africa).

Founded in Accra (Ghana) in August 2008 the collection has evolved from a T- Shirt line to include bags, ipod cases and canvas art. After moving the business to London, we are happy to present our first collection entitled ‘its always summer in Africa’. The collection was created during my 18 month stay in Ghana and aims to capture the true essence of Africa. With an abundance of colour we have created a visual journey through daily African life ranging from childhood nostalgia, socio – political issues, music, culture, traditional art and food.

Sunshine and hope are also recurring themes.
The art collection mirrors the clothing collection and most of the designs in our S/S09 collection can be transferred into painted and screen printed limited works of art.

We believe Kayobi is an exciting brand your readers would like to hear about especially in a year in which all things African is being celebrated. We will be honoured to be featured on your platform.

Please find attached an image of some of our art and our look book for the SS09 collection. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or wish to discuss the brand further.

On behalf of all of us at Kayobi we would like to thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon.
