Aldo, Julian Louie and the Global Bazaar

Aldo is getting quite afrohip these days. We had noticed a few Africa inspired accessories a few seasons back but they’re now tapping right into the afrohip trend with the phenomenal new Forwood shoe and their Global Bazaar collection. The Forwood comes in two prints directly inspired by the fabric we all know and love and have been wearing for years in the motherland: wax

Plus these wedges are really comfortable and, while the heel is super high, they are still ok to wear for a walk in the city.

I got the green and brown ones. Although I initially fell in love with turquoise pair, I ended up opting for the more neutral one that, I believe, will be easier to wear with the clothes I already have. AND: they’re reasonably priced at 90$ (102,00 CAD including the taxes in Quebec)

If you want to get ready for spring and summer I’d suggest you start with these :)

And Aldo doesn’t stop there. They’ve teamed up with young fashion designer Julian Louie to create shoes for the Spring 2011 collection. These super high wedges are pretty hot. Made with blends of ikat fabric (originally from Indonesia) and suede these shoes look eclectic, fun and quite sexy. They’re priced at 125.00 CAD.
